Twenty Years

Twenty years ago, on this day, in a very small civil ceremony, the Lovely Melis and I joined our lives together legally.

I gave the Lovely Melis my heart a number of years prior to that day, and I am thankful for the gift of her heart in return.

Our lives together have not been untroubled, but these words, which I first put down here eight years ago, still ring true.

I will not state we are soul mates, because we are not.  I will not state that I need the Lovely Melis, because I do not.  What I will state is that the Lovely Melis is an individual whose company I thoroughly enjoy, whose appeal to my senses is still sharp, whose respect I continue to strive for, and whose beauty continues to blossom like a well cellared bottle of red wine.

Happy Anniversary, Melis.  You are my love.
