A recent study emanating out of the Department of Psychology, University of Florida, Gainesville, FL, and published in a paper with the mind bending title of Why Is Benevolent Sexism Appealing? - Associations With System Justification and Life Satisfaction, suggests that gallantry, or benevolent sexism in elitist intellectual circles, though of positive impact in individuals’ personal lives, is an archaic perpetuator of gender inequality and should be stamped out.
...our findings reinforce the dangerous nature of benevolent sexism and emphasize the need for interventions to reduce its prevalence.
Juxtaposed against this study which suggests that gallantry is dangerous and need be invalidated in social relations; via Harvard, that bastion of elitist intellectualism and cookie cutter supplier of political office aspirants; comes the news that Harvard has approved a student BDSM club so that said club members can feel “socially validated.”
Maybe it’s time for both of these schools to be socially invalidated as bastions of higher learning.
