Moving Snow
Well, it has pretty much been snowing here in Western Michigan since Friday, and still is currently, though a break in the snow is predicted for Christmas Day. No fears of a non-white Christmas here.
Anyway, since I’ve for the most part run out of places to throw the snow that accumulates on my driveway, sidewalk, etc., I’m spending the day moving snow around to make room for the 5 to 10 inches predicted for today through tomorrow.
One item to link to, though, by Thomas Sowell, and posted by Capitalism Magazine, titled Random Thoughts for December 2008.
One thought regarding the following sentence from Sowell’s piece.
Only in Congress do people adjust to economic adversity and growing deficits by spending more money.
Though Sowell correctly chastises Congress in the above sentence, the chastisement should actually be applied to all those individuals who continue to clamor for the State to do something. The only thing the State should be doing is getting out of the way and allowing the market to work. If enough individuals would begin clamoring for the State to choke off their reckless spending and get out of the way of the market, then, and only then, and only maybe, would the State possibly comply.
