Gun Safety Talk in Prime Time
The little teevee I watch does not include the show Blue Bloods, but ricketyclick took in the show the other night and notes that this episode included a scene where father and son sit down and have, what ricketyclick calls, “The Talk,” which is a talk about gun safety.
Ricketyclick has the video of “The Talk” (2:56) embedded within his post, which is titled The Three Rules on Blue Bloods, and as I viewed it, I was reminded of when I sat down with my sons and had “The Talk,” and then took them to the woods to actually handle magazines and live fire.
The larger point which ricketyclick draws readers’ attention to, though, is the treatment of the topic of gun safety in a prime time environment.
What matters is that on prime time TV, millions of viewers watched as a man defended his family with a gun, and gave his son The Talk to calm his anxiety after witnessing a shooting, and having a bullet pass by him in a gunfight.
We’re winning.
I’m not certain if “we’re winning,” but, it is encouraging to note.
