What They Say
My friends at No Treason, seemed to get talked about, and not always in the most flattering manner.
"What they say about us around the net:
"A little too consistent.... “
- Micha Ghertner
”...left-libertarian warmongers..."
- Lew Rockwell
”...obsessive and creepy..."
- Radley Balko
”...lunatic fringe..."
- Perry de Havilland
"pro-State warmonger/Bushian shill” ... “Collectivist Supremo” ... “bought-off, treasonous ilk"
- Karen De Coster
”...complete disregard, even a disdain, for the importance of culture..."
- Arthur Silber
”...*I* would place a high value in seeing you rot in a ditch..."
- Michael Schneider
I’m certain that the individuals’ feelings, at No Treason, are smarting something awful. Ha.
personally, I think I’m sweet.

I’m curious as to why an anarchist would care a rat’s turd what anyone else thought about anything?
I thought that was the whole point of claiming to be an anarchist – you’re only concerned for your own selfish interest and everyone else can go to hell.
Posted by on 09/10 at 08:12 AMWhat you care about people’s opinion of you is not really an anarchist issue, though I suppose there are some broad generalizations you can make. It’s probably true that ancaps are generally less concerned with social acceptantce than most people.
I do care what others think about me, but only to the extent that I respect their judgment. I don’t dismiss the people who authored the quotes above as complete fools. I think I have a style that puts many people off their best game.
Posted by John T. Kennedy on 09/10 at 08:37 AMI wouldn’t have made Silber out as a Culural Conservative, which is what your quote taken alone would suggest.
Posted by bithead on 09/10 at 08:47 AMThere’s another way I upset some of these people. For the most part they’ve adopted more or less radical political positions and one of the things they like about it is that they’re usually only attacked from one direction. But I’m further out on the fringe and their flanks are easy targets for me and it’s damned annoying to get shot in the back over and over.
But I only wing ‘em to focus their attention, I don’t go for the head shot like some of my associates.

What logical reason would an ancap (anarcho-capitalist) have for being concerned about the acceptance of (his beliefs by) other individuals?
I thought that the whole point of claiming Anarchy (or Anarcho-Capitalism) was that you weren’t concerned about, or by, the rules (thoughts, notions, ideas, philosophies) that other individuals live by?
I mean, if a bunch of Democrats got together and voted that Anarchy was “illegal” would that make you abandon the concept of Anarchy?
Also is there a substantial difference between an Ancap, and a plain vanilla anarchist in your opinion? Are they essentially the same creature, or two different species?
John Kennedy: I do care what others think about me, but only to the extent that I respect their judgment.
How can you respect the judgment of an individual (or the individual themselves) that disagrees with you on such a fundamental level?
For example, I believe that 2 + 2 = 4. Are you saying that I should respect the judgment of individuals who believe that 2 + 2 does not equal 4?
In other words, should I believe that it is just as true to claim that 2 + 2 = 4 as it is to claim that 2 + 2 <> 4?

You Secularists and your “magic” powers … you slay me.
Now, do any of you Anarchists want to explain the fundamentals of Anarchy, or is this site only for those devoutly brainwashed already?

I am reminded of Claude Raines in a movie I just saw over the weekend....“That is my least senstive spot”
