Welcome, Finlay Anne
Well, it’s official. The Lovely Melis and I are Grandma and Grandpa. After 24 hours of non-productive labor, Finlay came into this world at 1:30 a.m. this morning via c-section, all 8 pounds and 15 ounces of her. What a blessing.
UPDATE: I thought Finlay deserved to be seen without Grandpa’s face hovering over her.
Congrats Sir!

Posted by og on 01/26 at 08:50 PMNo cowboy gunslinger was ever faster on the draw than a grandparent pulling a baby picture out of a wallet.
Congratulations!Posted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on 01/26 at 09:12 PMA beautiful blessing indeed. Congratulations!

Finlay looks appropriately bored. Wait until she has to trudge through one of Grampa’s screeds!
Heh!
Congrats, my good friend, and best to Melis and Mom and Dad, too.
A blessed day, one which the Lord made especially for you all.
Posted by jb on 01/26 at 10:51 PMCongratulations John.
Posted by mike on 01/27 at 06:52 AMChris, Rudy, Og, Kaz, Linda, JB, and Mike. Thank you all for stopping by and offering your congratulations. I must admit that I’m rather proud to be a Grandpa.
JB. I thought that Finlay was rather enthralled by my murmurings as I cradled her in my arms, not bored.
Posted by John Venlet on 01/27 at 08:40 AMOh, bravo! Beautiful child…
Posted by Greg Swann on 01/27 at 09:02 AMGreg, thank you.
Posted by John Venlet on 01/27 at 09:09 AMShe’s beyond lovely, John.
Many congratulations!
Posted by Daphne on 01/27 at 09:53 AMThanks, Daphne.
Posted by John Venlet on 01/27 at 10:38 AMCongratulations! Nice looking young lady. I hope her parents do as we do down here in the south…ground her until she’s thirty.
Teach her to fish as soon as possible…the best way I know of to understand patience.
Posted by Yabu on 01/28 at 08:38 AMVery beautiful, congratulations!
Posted by Otto on 01/29 at 08:29 AMYabu and Otto, thank you. I, naturally, think Finlay is beautiful, but one could say that I suffer from kin prejudice.
And Yabu, don’t you worry, as soon as Finlay can manage holding some type of fishing rod, this Grampa will have her fishing. I’ve already told her so, though I don’t know if she recall that fact in the future.
Thanks again.
Posted by John Venlet on 01/29 at 11:08 AMWhat a beautiful baby! Congratulations!
She doesn’t seem to have that “this was a very bad idea” look most newborns sport.
Posted by Joel on 01/29 at 11:40 AMJoel, thank you. Finlay did not really find her voice of displeasure with the new scheme of things until she was about 36 hours old, and that, I can emphatically state, was gas related, which led to the conclusion that I still know how to change a diaper with aplomb.
