The Enforcer

Glenn Reynolds says:

I think that everyone who votes should pay income tax. And the amount should go up and down with federal spending.

I do not vote.  Does that mean I do not have to pay income tax, Glenn?

  1. Reynolds is a statist, in mind and function. I believe he works, at least in part, for the state, right?

He’s in favor of theft as long as it favors him.

“None squeals so loudly as the tyrant forced to live under the rules he wishes for others.”

I know, Don, and he’s always wanting it “faster please.”

  3. I love the system he has proposed.  Can we extend this to law enforcement? If I don’t try to force my values onto others with voting and lobbying, can I do as I please with myself?

Man, I’m refusing to vote as hard as I can, whenever I get the chance.

    Excellent.

  5. The first part of Reynold’s post is “52 Million (36%) of Tax Returns Pay Zero Income Tax.”

He’s not arguing for an income tax, he’s arguing that it should cost you your money if you vote for people who spend our money.  That would be a significant improvement over what we have now, if we’re forced to have an income tax at all.

  6. Glenn Reynolds says: I think that everyone who votes should pay income tax.

David Andersen says: He’s not arguing for an income tax,

It’s always a marvel to see stuff like this.

His last sentence was the clincher, written from the perspective of a captive inside the cage.

  7. David, I understood exactly what Glenn Reynolds was driving at in his post, but this does not negate the principle of my question in response to Reynold’s pronouncement “that everyone who votes should pay income tax.”

  8. The biggest problem with David’s response is the underlying premise that theft is a given, and everything after that is merely icing on the cake.

This comes from an enslavement mindset, fostered since birth, and can be quite difficult to overcome.
If born and raised as a slave the idea of freedom is illusory and frightening. This is the blue pill.

  9. John, I’m not saying it does.  Your response makes perfect sense.

Don, that isn’t my premise.  You took Reynolds out of context - the first part of the post makes it clear what he means. I’m certainly not a proponent of an income tax; try to avoid leaping to conclusions.
