Stealing, and Bragging About It

I can recall, as a child, stealing.  I knew it was wrong, and I am glad that I was caught, and punished, by my parents.  I can still recall my personal humiliation.  Who will punish Hillary Clinton, for stealing, and bragging about it?

“Many of you are well enough off that ... the tax cuts may have helped you,” Sen. Clinton said. “We’re saying that for America to get back on track, we’re probably going to cut that short and not give it to you. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

Back off, Hillary.

“San Francisco rolls out the red carpet for the Clintons.”

  1. We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good . . .

    Is a chilling sentence.

  2. Josef Stalin would be proud.

  3. Uh, yeah guys, but do you think Bush and the Republicans don’t think they’re entitled to take from you on behalf of the public good? Aren’t they doing it as we speak?

Am I supposed to get warm fuzzies when Bush slams her for this while he continues to spend my money?

She’s simply being honest for once. What’s really chilling is how many people are jumping all over that statement today when they actually agree that such taking is right and proper.

  4. I wasn’t aware that Bush slammed her over the comment. Either way, I don’t approve of government taking any of my money as a general rule. That being said, I did get to pay less this year as a result of a Bush tax cut.

On a somewhat related note, my wife being a citizen of a former republic of the Soviet Union; one that was particularly hard hit by ‘ol Joe Stalin, is almost shocked at what comes out of the mouths of many of our politicians. The above Hillary quote is almost a verbatem Communist Pary qoute.

    Yeah:

“We’re going to take things away from you on behalf of the common good.”

What part of that can Bush say doesn’t accurately reflect his own politics?

  6. Probably not much. I doubt you’re going to see any politician who doesn’t have at least some of the collective mentality. After all, presumably, politicians get into the game for the common good of the people. Notice I said “presumably”. However I do think that Bush’s brand of collectivism is a bit less “jack-booted” than our friend Hillary. They are doing if for different reasons and from a different approach. Bush, like much of the right, seem to be coming from the point of view that taxation is a necessary evil and they do ascribe to the notion of “trickle down economics”. The left on the other hand seem to approach it from a wealth redistribution point of view. To them one can have too much money. That’s the talk they seem to talk.

Be that as it may I do believe that any graduated, progressive tax scheme is nothing more than a means to create a socio-economic class mosaic. It keeps the masses devided and more easily governable. Things like “common good” and “protecting those who fall through the cracks” are nothing but a lie.
