Speaking of God and Good and Evil

I’ve not read Roberto Mangabeira Unger’s book, Knowledge & Politics, but after being pointed to Arthur Allen Leff’s review of this work of Unger’s by InstaPundit, I am adding Unger’s book to my list of books to purchase and read.

Leff’s review, published in 1977 by Yale and available at their digital commons, is titled Memorandum from the Devil, and it is well worth taking the time to read, if you are interested in the subjects of God, good, and evil.  Though Leff’s conclusions may leave an individual of faith feeling rather chagrined, there are so many irresistible passages, as Reynolds notes, that I cannot quote just one or two.

  1. Thanks for the pointer to Memorandum from the Devil ... well worth the time it took to read.  I see why you think to add Knowledge and Politics to your list!  Looking forward to seeing what you make of it.
