SOPA and A Variation on “Don Henley Must Die”
I’ve mentioned Mojo Nixon’s song Don Henley Must Die previously in these pages (lyrics here).
Paul Graham offers a variation on the theme of Don Henley Must Die, titled by Business Insider as Hollywood Must Die, which advocates for the death of Hollywood because of its support of SOPA.
Hollywood appears to have peaked. If it were an ordinary industry (film cameras, say, or typewriters), it could look forward to a couple decades of peaceful decline. But this is not an ordinary industry. The people who run it are so mean and so politically connected that they could do a lot of damage to civil liberties and the world economy on the way down. It would therefore be a good thing if competitors hastened their demise.
I would add that Hollywood should die because the majority of movies that come out of Hollywood are crap.

Agreed, as with everything else that has declined so has Hollywood. Last movie I saw in a theater was U-571 so that tells you how long they haven’t been making any money off me. Well, not really. For Christmas I gave my wife a 3 disc DVD set of Alfred Hitchcock’s 1950’s TV shows and we watch 1 or 2 of them while eating supper(commercial free!). Other than that, I don’t watch TV at all. We have a gazillion channels on the dish but just about all of it is reality shows, that are everything but, and absolute trash for brain dead idiots. Even the nature channels get on my nerve with their 3 edits a second filming. I tell my wife at least once a month to cancel the DirectTV but so far she hasn’t. shrugPosted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on 01/23 at 04:45 PM
