Skip The Census, Survey Says…

I’ve been encouraging Americans to skip the census as a form of peacful civil disobedience and have written so here and here.  According to the Pew Research Center, approximately 1 in 5 American individuals are “unsure” whether they will participate in Census 2010.  I say Americans do better than this.

According to Pew’s survey, those individuals most likely to skip the census are young people, ages 18 - 29, and individuals in “lower-income” brackets.  In response to this, I say that older and wealthier American individuals should be leading the way in skipping the census, rather than these young people and lower-income individuals, whose responses to Pew’s census survey questions indicate that they may be skipping the census simply because they are too busy or apathetic, reasons which are simply passive.

Active civil disobedience is what is required.  Skip the census actively, not passively.
