Skip Census 2010 - Peaceful and Polite Civil Disobedience

I’ve encouraged individuals, at this blog, to skip the census on multiple occasions.  In the spirit of this peaceful and polite form of civil disobedience, and Claire Wolfe’s recent admonition,

Saying “no” to intrusive census questions is a nice little act of beginner resistance — and equally good for keeping veteran freedomistas in prime form.

I note Claire’s recent posts on the subject.  First, The census and the death of civil society, which points to Wendy McElroy’s post The Census and the Death of Civil Society.  Both Claire’s comments on Wendy’s piece, and Wendy’s piece itself, are worth reading.  Claire’s second post encouraging individuals to skip the census is titled More on the census and GPS tagging.

I know my front door has been GPS tagged by a Census 2010 lackey, because the individual was not pleased when I informed them, when asked about my household, that I was just a house cleaner who knew nothing, and what I did know I would not share, whether it be about my household or my neighbors’ households.

Skip Census 2010.  It is peaceful and polite civil disobedience.

  1. Protest if you like but be prepared to fork out some cash if you do.

  2. Bob,

I’m aware of the fines stipulated in 13 U.S.C. § 221 : US Code - Section 221: Refusal or neglect to answer questions; false answers, but my refusal to participate in the census, also fully encompasses this aspect of the census.  If the State fines me, I will refuse to pay.
