Onboard with Nuclear Power
Great article outlining the “Advantages of Nuclear Power.”
Having some familiarity with this power source, and having slept alongside low yield thermonuclear weapons, the SUBROC to be precise, and when I say slept alongside I mean slept alongside down in the Torpedo Room, I can’t understand the ignorant fears typically voiced in regards development of nuclear power plants. Be that as it may, the linked article, written by Donald W. Miller, Jr., M.D., provides an analysis that can dispel many unfounded fears.
The article is posted at Strike the Root.
The one consistent theme expressed in the article in one of cetralization of energy source. That is not the only choice. Decetralization is another choice.
This is another example of thinking ‘in the box’ which means the present power structures will be inconvenienced (and lose out monetarily) at the minimum. As a direct result the energy user populations will remain under those power sturctures thumb. Anotherwords, a net gain of freedom of nada, zilch, zero.
While I have problems with at least one of his details ( the ommision of quantification of storage of waste products ), the above is a much broader concern.

My main impetous in linking the piece, was as an attempt to eliminate ignorance associated with nuclear power as an energy source.

Dealing with nuclear power ignorance is invaluable and may bear fruit *in our lifetimes*. In addition, we need to plan beyond our lifetimes.
Well then, in a more constrained vein, do you feel bottling and storing wastes is a responsible solution ?
Posted by .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) on 04/16 at 10:06 AMIt is, at this time, I think, the only responsible solution. The future may hold other ideas for productive use of the waste generated. Recall that, at one time, oil use not of much use either.
