It's the Freedom, Stupid
I hardly think that Alberto Abadie is the first to cast doubt on the “root cause” of terrorism, but I tend to agree with the following.
"A John F. Kennedy School of Government researcher has cast doubt on the widely held belief that terrorism stems from poverty, finding instead that terrorist violence is related to a nation’s level of political freedom."
and
"In the past, we heard people refer to the strong link between terrorism and poverty, but in fact when you look at the data, it’s not there. This is true not only for events of international terrorism, as previous studies have shown, but perhaps more surprisingly also for the overall level of terrorism, both of domestic and of foreign origin,” Abadie said."
“Freedom squelches terrorist violence"

The asnwer has always been there.
I’ve on several occasions now, posted a response to the charge that poverty creates terrorism… and apparently, it’s one they cannot answer.“Explain to me, on what level, the multi-millionare Usama BinLaden is impoverished.”
He may very well be suffering from a poverty of the soul, but I wouldn’t expect the left to think in such terms, or admit it if they did. And certainly, it’s the only answer, given the context of the charge, if the word ‘poverty’ enters into it at all.Posted by bithead on 11/09 at 07:00 AMWait a minute … are you trying to tell me that some Individuals are Bad (Evil) and it is not the result of poverty???
But … but … I thought “the matter” (materialism/atheism) held the keys to all unanswered questions??
Damnit! First Kerry loses the election, and now I have to deal with this?!?! (sob.)
So Mr. Venlet what is the definition of the term “Freedom” anyway (what is your definition of that term?)?
