I’d Rather Have You Owe It to Me Than Gip Me Out of It

Reading that the State of California is considering issuing IOUs almost made me laugh as hard as when I was experiencing a “fiscal crisis,” and hit my Dad up for a few bucks with promises of future repayment, and Dad would respond, “I’d rather have you owe it to me than gip me out of it.”
