I Hate Illinois Liars
The title to this post is ripped off from a line uttered by the character Elwood Blues in the movie The Blues Brothers. Elwood Blues did not state he hated Illinois liars in this movie, though I would suspect he would find them exceptionally distasteful, Elwood hated Illinois Nazis.
I’ve been thinking about the title to this post ever since Drudge posted the headline COUNT THE LIES: OBAMA VOWED 8 X TO TELEVISE HEALTHCARE, in bright red letters, complete with flashing cop cherry, at 15:34:37 yesterday afternoon.
Clicking on the link supplied by Drudge, noting Obama’s lie(s), brought you to a Brietbart.tv post titled The C-SPAN Lie? See Eight Clips of Obama Promising Televised Healthcare Negotiations. The title is self-explanatory.
Thinking that Drudge’s headline, the alleged importance of the healthcare issue to the American people, and Obama’s continual talk of “transparency” would bring Obama’s lying about his “vow” of televised healthcare debate to the forefront of the publics’ minds, I googled up the phrase televised healthcare debate, at Google News. As you can see, if you click on the link, it would appear that Obama’s lying about this particular vow is generating some press. And yet if you click further into the Google supplied links, specifically the top two, you’ll find that this is not the case. The top match for my Google query provides a link titled all 5,117 news articles, but the top story, if you click on this link, is about how Americans are going to be shocked by a report being released on the Christmas Day underwear bomber. I won’t bother with the second to the top match Google link.
But I am veering off course delving into these Google links, somewhat naively believing that the American people will exhibit outrage about Obama’s lying, and even more naively believing that the media would be unbiasedly reporting on Obama’s lying, so back to Illinois Nazis and Elwood Blues.
In The Blues Brothers movie, as Elwood and Jake Blues are driving the Bluesmobile through the streets of Chicago, they come upon a group of Nazis impeding their forward progress. Elwood, at this point, utters the line “I hate Illinois Nazis,” steps on the gas and scatters the Nazis with the Bluesmobile with no more care for the Nazis than if they were a swarm of gnats.
I feel the same way about the Illinois liar(s), and the rest of their ilk.
