I Definitely Will Never Purchase a Brand New Car
There was a period in my life when I purchased a brand new, showroom car, every six to twelve months simply because I could. Sure, I was screwing myself, think of those depreciation costs, and some other lucky buyer profited, but at that point in time I did not care.
It’s been awhile since I’ve purchase a brand new, showroom car, but now I doubt I ever will again.
”...National Transportation Safety Board to require electronic data recorders or “black boxes” in all new cars manufactured in the United States.”
The spurious line of reasoning for this intrustion into your life.
“According to Joe Osterman, director of highway safety at the NTSB, the recommendation was inspired in part by a tragic auto accident involving a 86-year-old man who drove his car into a crowded Santa Monica farmers’ market last summer, killing 10 and injuring 63.
Osterman said a black box in the car might have not saved the people in the crash, but would have allowed investigators to find out how it happened and how cars could be better designed to reduce the likelihood of greater injury in the future.”
Right.
“Privacy Experts Shun Black Boxes”
As I gather it, the thing records only what the car itself was doing, and that for only the last 30 seconds to a minute depending on the design.
I have to admit being torn on this one.
