Hope Against Hope

Rand Simberg points to an AP piece wherein various individuals are interviewed regarding their feelings towards Obama one year on.  Simberg titles his post A Compendium Of Fools.  Apropos.

The AP piece is titled After year, hope turns into disappointment, and what struck me, as I read through the expressions of disappointment regarding Obama, was that the individuals were only expressing feelings, there was nothing substantive in their minds, and that is perfectly encapsulated in the following quote from the AP piece.

...Where are all those reassuring speeches now?

As if reasurring speeches from Obama would accomplish anything, at all, which is why I titled this post Hope against hope.
