First There Were Brown Shirts

Nazi.  Now there’s a four letter word, right?  Negative connotations abound when this epithet is pasted upon an individual.  What should these guys be called?  The head cases?  The black shirts?  The Islamfascists/nazis/commies?  The totally deluded?

  1. Is there any evidence that these guys adopted their salute from the nazis?  I agree it doesn’t seem like much of a leap, but I don’t think it’s a given.

  2. biily-jay - I do not know if there is any evidence of where the salute is adopted from, so its not a given.  What’s interesting about the salute though, is the blind, unthinking, zealous obedience that appears to accompany it no matter what manifestation the salute takes in terms of individuals embracing it and executing it with such verve.
