  1. My neighbour locked his front door. Can you show me a workaround? Perhaps he left a window open?

Principles, gentleman. You had been asked not to use another’s property, and immediately set about to ignore their wishes.

  2. Tam, you are absolutely correct in pointing out the importance of being guided by, and adhering, to principles, and it’s not as if I would not feel compunction if I did not respect private property.

With that said, the SOPA blackout movement was meant to imitate what could happen to the internet if in fact the U.S. government enacted such an egregious law.  If the government did in fact pass such a law, and began blacking out websites they arbitrarily deemed offensive, or as infringing upon some phrase or what-have-you, I would be thankful for enterprising code writers who were able to so quickly provide me a workaround the government’s locked doors and windows, and I would feel no compunction about doing so.

Does this mean I am unprincipled?

  3. While I’m not certain I agree wholeheartedly, that is certainly a well-reasoned argument.

We each of us have to answer only to ourselves. (Would that “lawmakers” understood that…) smile

  4. Tam, I would not ask you to wholeheartedly agree, but only to consider the idea.

    Thanks for responding.
