Charlie Toups Free - Justice Remains in Custody of Armed Idiots

I mentioned the plight of ski bum extraordinaire, Charlie Toups, just the other day, in a post titled Charlie Toups, the Most Dangerous 63 Year Old in America, I Guess. Charlie copped a plea, to obtain his unjustly taken freedom, which the Denver Post noted under their headline to the story Ski bum Charlie Toups freed after 61 days in jail, with these words.

Charlie Toups is free.

The quintessential ski bum, jailed since November for extended camping on federal land near the base of Arapahoe Basin Resort, has negotiated a deal with prosecutors.

“He admits he resisted arrest, and we dropped the charges,” said Jeff Dorschner, spokesman for the U.S. attorney in Colorado. “We asked that he follow a couple conditions, which is essentially that he has to follow the rules everybody else has to follow.”

What gracious words emanate from the mouthpiece for the U.S. attorney in Colorado, Jeff Dorschner, as justification for this idiocy.

Here’s a few words from Charlie, upon being released.

Minutes after his release late Thursday, Toups said the past two months “have been a milestone in my life, probably one of the best things that ever happened to me.”

“This is my chance to make everything better and I hope I can live up to everyone’s expectations,” he said. “Now I really have to deliver.”

Charlie, my hope is that your words, as quoted above, mean only one thing, and that is that you are re-dedicating yourself to your passion for the slopes, and that your desire to live up to “everyone’s expectations” is not meant as kow towing to the idiocy of the State, but rather meant as a desire to hone your ability to ski even more days each winter in the coming years.

Now get out there and point those boards downhill, Charlie.
