Auschwitz - Commemorating It’s Liberation

Sixty-five (65) years ago, today, Auschwitz was liberated.  An event well worth commemorating.  In recognition of this date, the world also notes that today is Holocaust Memorial Day (Yom Ha-Shoah), well at least at good portion of the world.

As most individuals know, Auschwitz was not the only Nazi concentration camp which specialized in brutalizing and killing the Jews, and other “undesirables,” there were many such camps.

Quite possibly the world should also commemorate the fact that world governments ignored these despicable actions undertaken by the Nazis against the Jews, as they were occurring, with a day of world shame.

  1. It is the anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz, but it’s not Yom HaShoah. That would be Apr 11 (for this year).

  3. The sentiment’s correct. And while we’re on the topic of liberation, three cheers for the Russian army. People generally underappreciate the their activity on Germany’s eastern front and how much of a meat grinder it was.
