At Times I Can Only Shake My Head and Wonder
What in the world is it about Mel Gibson’s film that has so many individuals up in frickin arms, pursuing every conceivable, and some not so conceivable, angle to discredit it? Are there fears of a great mysticism revival which will plunge the world back into the Dark Ages? Is it because Mel spent a lot of his own dough in producing the film and the studios and film distibutors aren’t in on the action (my personal bet)? No points on the back end hey boys? Damn, and Mel’s going to make more dough than Judas could even dream of. What’s next? Well, this past weekend I heard someone bring up the sadistic factor and I thought, WTF, are there fears that sadists are going to be attending this film and choking their chickens in the theater and exploding in ecstasy at the sound of the scourging of Christ? Jeebus.
Well, much to my chagrin, I see that Reason’s Charles Paul Freund, a Senior Editor no less, is attempting to add credence to this bloviated notion. Not about sadists in the theater, but about an unhealthy interest in sadism. I can only shake my head and wonder.
“Free speech” only applies to liberals. Everyone with a brain knows that.
Besides Christians are insane, just ask any Atheist.
Look, there is no “God”, your existence is meaningless and purposeless, and the universe just magically appeared out of no where 15 billion years ago in a really big explosion called the “Big Bang” (i.e. Genesis). Except it wasn’t really magic, because that would make Atheism/Materialism a Supernatural religion (which is no better than Christianity), so instead lets just call it “random” instead, and leave it at that.
Now run along and try not to think about these things too much, just pretend you have “free will”, and remember Mel Gibson is a maniac and a Jew-hating racist.
Bush is the anti-Christ!
Vote Kerry!
