At Least He Got One Thing Right, I Guess
Eric Engberg, a retired CBS News correspondent, has written an op-ed for CBS News, natch, titled “Blogging As Typing, Not Journalism."
Engberg’s piece, which is highly critical of blogs, and not without justification, does contain some nuggets of truth, generously mixed with pithy reminisces, but overall is simply a retired newsman’s whining over something he actually does not understand.
Even so, as I stated in the title to this post, Engberg did get one thing right. Blogs, in all likelihood, will not replace mainstream media. But bear this in mind, Eric Engberg, though you consider blogs “parasite”(s), which cannot replace the MSM, blogs can, and do, remove the immunity MSM’s have enjoyed in the past. In fact, I think a good sound parasitism is just what the doctor ordered for the MSM.
