An Epic Length Review
Andy Duncan, exercising his pen in the guise of a Guild of Film Reviewers reviewer, or as an exercise in Homer length musings, shares his thoughts on the recently released film Troy. I cannot tell how frequently he referred to his Penquin books edition of The Illiad in writing the reivew. The piece is titled “Troy: The film that launched a thousand trips to the bathroom." You should be able to read it through in one sitting.
Actually, THE TIME TUNNEL had a great “Trojan War” episode, relying, as always, on copious stock footage.
The “Nero’s Ghost” episode is cooler, though. It’s actually slightly scary.
Bare-bones synopsi of THE TIME TUNNEL are at http://www.chapmip.demon.co.uk/tt_crit.htm
Most episodes can be summed up in one line:
"The pair witness the legendary siege of Troy in c.1200BC." ("Revenge of the Gods")
"Tony and Doug try to prevent Custer’s last stand at Little Bighorn in 1876."
"Silver-skinned aliens arrive in Arizona in 1885 with the aim of taking over the Earth."
You can have your modern, weepy, decadent “Quantum Leap”. This is the way history should be dealt with: "General Kirk’s idea of sending a bag of grenades and a machine gun to help Tony(during the Trojan War) seems a bit heavy-handed. “
"Merlin re-directs Tony and Doug to 6th Century England where they help King Arthur to defeat the Vikings."

There appear to have been Japanese laser discs and perhaps one DVD.
