Bill Clinton, The Democrats, Timothy McVeigh and Story Telling
A number of individuals have noted Bill Clinton’s recent blatherings (pdf of 12 pgs) to the Center for American Progress.
Malone Vandam notes this in a post titled They know they are losing, stating the following, amongest other things.
If there is anyone in the world who defiled the American Presidency and made it ready for the radical anti-American fool occupying it now, it was Bill Clinton.
Well said.
Jeffrey Quick also commented on Clinton’s blatherings, in a post titled Billy, you’re way too modest, contemplating that this statement from Clinton,
One of these guys the other day said that all politics is just a prelude to the ultimate and inevitable civil war.
is possibly a reference to Billy Beck.
But I also want to post a link to a Brian Micklethwait post at Samizdata titled Bill Clinton talks up Timothy McVeigh, which ends on this note.
...The danger for the Democrats is that they risk looking like they want another Timothy McVeigh. As quite a few of them surely do.
However, if the Democrats do get lucky and another McVeigh really does materialise, there is a big difference between now and the time when the original McVeigh did his thing. Then, there was no internet. The story was whatever the then mainstream media decided it was. But that rule no longer applies.
Think about that.
