A Little Yukon Territory Photograph Help, Please
Found the below photo, yesterday, for 2 bucks at an estate sale here in Michigan, and I’m in need of a bit of help identifying the photographer, if possible. Here’s the photo.
I think the dog in the photo is a great looking critter, but my main interest in attempting to identify the photographer is based on the note written in pencil on the back of the frame, which reads as follows.
Petted this dog in 1928 while visiting in Whitehorse on the Yukon River in Northern Territory Canada. He (I would assume the dog - ed.) carried the mail from Skagway to Whitehorse in the winter by dog team. I had the same trip in the summer by 2 trains and a steamboat.
In the lower right hand corner of the photo, you’ll note, taking into consideration my poor photographic skills, a hand drawn copyright symbol and the name “Taylor” in the cursive style.
So, do any of the readers stopping by here, Canadian or otherwise, know any history of photographers with the last name of Taylor who were working in the Yukon Territory during the late 1920s? If you do, I’d be pleased to hear from you. Thanks.
