Blocking Access to America’s Energy Solutions
In July 2007, I noted an Edward Morriss piece in the Washington Times titled “Energy mythology” in a post I titled The Energy Solution. Morriss’ main argument regarding energy mythology, which was then, and still is correct, is that it is the government which is blocking the solution to America’s energy needs, and the government’s blocking continues unabated, as evidenced by the following.
“President Obama’s offshore charade continues today with the formal announcement of the 2012-2017 leasing plan for the outer continental shelf. With this plan, the administration reinstitutes the 27 year moratorium that was lifted in 2008, and turns its back on potentially enormous energy resources that could provide jobs and energy security for America. For more than three years, the Obama administration has consistently reversed bipartisan efforts to open America’s vast offshore resources for energy development.
“The president has cancelled lease sales, delayed others, and imposed a unilateral executive embargo on the oil resources that our most promising public lands could provide. With 98 percent of the U.S. offshore currently unleased for energy exploration, Secretary Salazar has finalized this plan to continue the administration’s war against affordable energy. In the end, Americans will pay more for the energy they need.”
It does not have to be this way. Sing It, Children.
Is Obama in actuality the poster boy for Cloward-Piven Strategy?

Almost Only Counts in Horseshoes and Hand Grenades
Back on March 3, 2004, news reports were circulating that the elusive Higgs boson particle had been “seen.” The news article reporting on the Higgs boson story in 2004 included phrases such as this.
There’s certainly evidence for something, whether it’s the Higgs boson is questionable,...
Fast forward to today, July 2, 2012, and we read the most recent news regarding the Higgs boson, under a headline which reads APNewsBreak: Evidence of ‘God particle’ found.
Scientists working at the world’s biggest atom smasher plan to announce Wednesday that they have gathered enough evidence to show that the long-sought “God particle” answering fundamental questions about the universe almost certainly does exist. (bold by ed.)
So, in 2004 we are informed that there is “certainly evidence of something,” in regards to the Higgs boson, and in 2012 we are informed that the Higgs boson “almost certainly” does exist. Both statements certainly are fine explanations as to why the phrase “almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades” came into being.
Gun Buyback Program Funds NRA Shooting Camp
I’ve mentioned, in the past, that I am not a fan of gun buyback programs as I think they create a false sense of security, but I do appreciate it when gun enthusiasts profit from gun buyback programs, as I previously mentioned here, and today I see that another group of gun enthusiasts has also benefited from Chicago’s recent gun buyback program.
A Downstate pro-gun group says it turned payouts from Chicago’s firearm buyback program last weekend into a fund-raiser for a youth summer camp — a National Rifle Association shooting camp, that is…
Sixty of the guns and several BB guns were turned in by the Champaign-based Guns Save Life. In return, the group received $6,240 in gift cards, said John Boch, president of the group…
Most of the money will go toward buying ammunition for an NRA youth camp in Bloomington. The rest will pay for four bolt-action rifles that will be given away to campers.
“This was rusty, non-firing junk that we turned in,” Boch said. “We are redirecting funds from people who would work against the private ownership of firearms to help introduce the next generation to shooting safely and responsibly.”
