Hillsdale College’s Constitution 101

Via LauraB, The Trooper’s Gal, I learned that Hillsdale College is offering, free of charge, a 10 week online course titled Constitution 101: The Meaning and History of the Constitution.

This will be a series of lectures of about 40 minutes apiece.  Constitution 101’s Schedule.

Like LauraB, I am interested in what this series of lectures will bring out.  The 10 week course begins February 20, 2012.  You can register for Constitution 101 here, if you’re interested.

UPDATE:  Corrected link to lecture series schedule.

Here’s An Honest Tip For Ya

Daphne’s, of Jaded Haven, complete post titled I Love This Child.

A question on my fifth grader’s math worksheet.

The Jones family ate dinner out last Sunday. The bill was $25.50. Mr. Jones left a 50% tip. Do you think this is too much? Explain your answer.

His complete answer.

I honestly don’t care how much he paid.

Life Lessons

Fred Lapides links to a Familyonbikes.org post titled 50 Lessons I wish I had learned earlier which lists a good number of aphorisms many of us will already be aware familiar with.  But there were a couple which I was not familiar with and thought worth posting here.

44.  What lies before us and behind us are tiny matters when compared to what lies within us.

45.  Don’t pray when it rains if you don’t pray when the sun shines

Lenin’s Theory of Four and Eight Proven

Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.

Give us the child for 8 years and it will be a Bolshevik forever.

Lenin’s theory of

education, as outlined in the above two quotes, which I have deemed the Theory of Four and Eight, has been proven by economics professor Jack Chambless of Valencia College, who tasked approximately 180 of his students with writing a 10 minute essay on the meaning of the American Dream and how the dream should be achieved.

While approximately ten percent (10%) of the students expressed a desire for the government to tax less and butt out of their lives (these students were immediately selected for additional intensive remedial training as expression of such wishes is most definitely a dream), over eighty percent (80%) of the students expressed wishes which decidely proves Lenin’s Theory of Four and Eight.  To wit.

*Free Tuition and Health Care
*Money for a House
*Money for Retirement
*Money for Me (After Taxing Rich People)

So there you have it, folks, Amerika has proven Lenin’s Theory of Four and Eight and is reaping what it has sown in spades.
