Obama, Not Satisfied Being Second

Back in October 2008, in a post I titled The Second Largest Slave Master in the World, I stated the following in regards to the not yet elected as president Obama.

If Obama is elected, working with the complicit assistance of Congress, only Hu Jintao will be the master of more slaves.

Now we get this statement uttered by Obama.

“Mr. Obama has told people that it would be so much easier to be the president of China…”

Nobody wants to be second best, I guess.

President of China? - Obama’s lament.

Now That’s Some Antique Tackle

As the days oh so slowly warm and lengthen, here in Michigan, daily my thoughts turn to the water; the rivers, creeks and streams I like to meander with fly rod in hand are gurgling to me, it’s almost time.  My fly boxes and fly rods stand at the ready, and my waders are in need of a soaking.

This year, I plan on presenting the trout with some tried and true old style fly patterns.  Patterns fished hard and long over the years, which, though still fished by individuals, are often, today, held in deep reserve as newer fly patterns and materials are favored.

Though I have a pretty good selection of old style, almost antique, patterns to choose from, they are relatively fresh off the boat, so to speak, as compared to these.

Looking for signs of ancient human settlement, they (archaeologists - ed.) unearthed meticulously-crafted spearheads and other tools (see photo at right) that date back 12,000 years and provide insight into the lives of a seafaring culture that obtained bounty from the ocean.

Scientists’ amazing California discovery includes fishing tackle 12,000 years old

Pretty cool.
