Hey, Where You Goin’ With Those Bombs?

It’s not often that a news story on which I would like additional information or data, in this case one headlined Final destination Iran?, which informs us:

The Sunday Herald can reveal that the US government signed a contract in January to transport 10 ammunition containers to the island. According to a cargo manifest from the US navy, this included 387 “Blu” bombs used for blasting hardened or underground structures.

that when I search for additional stories on the same subject via Google news, utilizing key words from the story, in this case the words bunker bomb shipment+diego garcia, that the search result produces one, and only one, link, and that is to the Scotland Herald story linked above.

Culture of Helpless Dependency

Drudge links to a wcbstv.com story with a headline reading 911 Systems Swamped In Storm.  The story provides the following information.

Nassau County officials are meeting to analyze why the county’s 911 system became overloaded during the weekend Nor’easter…

During the height of the storm, Mangano says some of the estimated 10,000 Nassau County 911 calls were transferred. They landed in emergency centers in nearby Suffolk County—or as far away as Albany. Typically, the system gets about 2,200 calls a day…

New York City experienced the second-highest volume of 911 calls ever in a 24-hour period—65,000 between 11 p.m. Friday and 11 p.m. Saturday…

Nassau Country “officials” can analyze all day long, but I would wager good money that at least ninety percent (90%) of these 911 calls were non-emergency related, i.e., my power’s out, a tree is down in my yard, a tree limb broke my window, a storm drain is clogged, or other such trivial matters which do not require an emergency response from the state, or warrant a 911 call.

Analysis of the 911 call overload will, I’m certain, only highlight the culture of helpless dependency of the masses upon which the State feeds and thrives.

Monday Morning Quote

Accepting the notion that government power is morally superior to free enterprise, and a virtuous nation therefore has a very large government, requires belief in the masters of the State as titans of mind and spirit. How could a gigantic State be morally defensible, if its leaders aren’t supermen? If you find yourself suspecting the architect of the largest, most expensive government America has ever known might not be as smart or wise as you were led to believe last November, your entire world-view is threatened.

Is your world view threatened?
