Extending Their Power and the Reach of Socialism

I had a few words to say, the other day, regarding socialism, in a post I titled It Is Happening Before Our Very Eyes.  That post was in response to the news that executive pay, at financial institutions receiving bailout monies, was being restricted, at the point of the state’s gun mind you.

Well, more guns are contemplated being deployed.

Congress will consider legislation to extend some of the curbs on executive pay that now apply only to those banks receiving federal assistance, House Financial Services Committee Chairman Barney Frank said…He said the compensation restrictions would apply to all financial institutions and might be extended to include all U.S. companies.

Yep, you read that correctly, the government is contemplating restricting incomes at ALL U.S. companies.  Are Americans going to recognize the threat to freedom this Obama led government represents?  Will Americans stand up and resist?  I am not encouraged that Americans will, by what I see and hear around me.

Barney Frank: TARP’s comp curbs could be extended to all businesses

For the Children

Many are the laws and legislations laid upon Americans “for the children.”  Drug laws, anti-smoking laws, pornography laws, health care laws, education laws, the list could go on and on, for the children, of course.

Well, here’s a deal “for the children,” both children living and children currently unborn, crafted by the hippy dippy free love generation, which will sacrifice the children and chain them in the years to come in the name of stimulus.

Stimulus Deal Reached: $780-827,000,000,000.00

We Are Economists, Obama

According to Breitbart.com, Obama is whinging that everyone thinks they are an economist.

Well, we are.  An economist, according to Merriam-Webster, is one who practices economy.  And economy, per Merriam-Webster, is defined as follows.

1 archaic : the management of household or private affairs and especially expenses
2 a: thrifty and efficient use of material resources : frugality in expenditures ; also : an instance or a means of economizing : saving

Though Merriam-Webster prefaces their definitions of economist and economy as archaic, I would state that if the government would cease and desist from picking my pockets and your pockets, and quit meddling in business, in other words get the hell out of the way, Americans would practice economy, archaic though it may be defined, and actual market conditions, based on individual Americans’ economy, would soon be made right.  Because the government sure as hell has not been practicing economy, as defined above, in any way, shape, or form.

The President - Attempting to Sell the Stimulus with Fear

Barack Obama is taking off the soft sell gloves and punching with his fist wrapped around a roll of quarters in an attempt to sell the American people a stimulus plan, NOW, via an op-ed in the Washington Post titled The Action Americans Need.

It is not unusual for professional jobholders of all stripes to attempt the sale of legislation of all types with fear, in fact it is normal.

I won’t waste time, here, slicing Obama’s op-ed into the shreds which it deserves to be shredded into.  Instead, I will simply point out that every American family, when confronted by declining finances, must tighten their financial belts, eliminating from their lives certain luxuries and even items which may not be a luxury.  The government MUST do the same.

FDR, who I am no fan of as he began the race to socialism in these United States, stated at his first inauguration that “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself.”  Well, we should all be quaking in our boots, because Barack Obama, the president of the United States, is encouraging us to fear.

Throwing Dogs Bones for Stimulus Support

Earlier today, Rasmussen Reports published a piece showing that support for a pork bellied stimulus package had fallen to a low of 37%.  Reason enough right there to kill it.

This of course requires a change in tactics by the professional jobholders.  Naturally, to get the dogs yapping for stimulus, something must be done, and throwing bones to them is typically quite effective.

Here are a couple of the bones which the professional jobholders hope the dogs will chow down.

Senate OKs $15,000 tax break for homebuyers

Senate votes to give a tax break to new car buyers

Unfortunately, these bones are chicken bones, and dogs who eat chicken bones often die a slow horrible death.

It Is Happening Before Our Very Eyes

Bakunin, whom I have quoted a couple of times recently, though known as a revolutionary anarchist, was a socialist.  One must seine his words carefully, removing the chaff of socialism to obtain those kernels of wisdom he uttered.

The following quote from Bakunin is in response to news items with headlines such as:

Obama Orders Pay Limits at Banks Getting Aid

Wells Fargo cancels Las Vegas events

In the following quote from Bakunin, he is criticizing Marx, specifically, but one can readily substitute Obama for Marx.

But in the People’s State of Marx there will be, we are told, no priviliged class at all.  All will be equal, not only from the juridical and political point of view but also from the economic point of view.  At least this is what is promised, though I very much doubt whether that promise could ever be kept.  There will therefore no longer be any priviliged class, but there will be a government and, note this well, an extremely complex government.  This government will not content itself with administering and governing the masses politically, as all governments do today.  It will also administer the masses economically, concentrating in the hands of the State the production and division of wealth, the cultivation of land, the establishment and development of factories, the organization and direction of commerce, and finally the application of capital to production by the only banker—the State.  All that will demand an immense knowledge and many heads “overflowing with brains” in this government.  It will be the reign of scientific intelligence, the most aristocratic, despotic, arrogant, and elitist of all regimes.  There will be a new class, a new hierarchy of real and counterfeit scientists and scholars, and the world will be divided into a minority ruling in the name knowledge, and an immense ignorant majority.  And then, woe unto the mass of ignorant ones.

“With all due respect, you’re lying Mr. President”

“There is no disagreement that we need action by our government, a recovery plan that will help to jumpstart the economy.”

Temporarily Incapacitated

Am dealing with a right arm which is incapacitated by, I hope, simply a pinched nerve somewhere in the shoulder/neck/?.  Further testing is called for, I am told by medical personnel.  Dang it.

Back as soon as I am physically able.
