I’ll Make An Example Out of You

I can remember my mother informing me, on a number of occasions when I had misbehaved or conducted myself in a way which was not conducive to being a big brother to four younger brothers, that she was going to make an example out of me.  Naturally, the example my mother made out of me, on these occasions, was an example which would deter my younger brothers from imitating a behavior which SHOULD NOT be imitated.

I think of this this morning after reading a post of Mike Soja’s titled The Future.  Mike points to an article at The American Spectator titled Scarce Freedom, Scarce Fish which looks at Cuba after 50 years of socialism, commonly known as government control of all aspects of living.  And how is it going in Cuba after 50 years of governmental control?

Wrapping up their analysis of Cuba’s 50 years of communist economics, the generally not-overly-enthusiastic-about-capitalism National Public Radio reported on January 8 that Cuba is still short of basic foodstuffs after a half century of keeping a lid on individualism and private enterprise.

With examples like the failure of the Soviet Union, and the failure which still is Cuba, starring us right in the face, why aren’t American individuals learning that socialism is a behavior America should not imitating?

“A New Breed of Citizens,” Indeed

In an op-ed, posted at Yahoo News, which was written by Dr. William A. Babcock, who is the senior ethics professor at Southern Illinois University Carbondale, Babcock advocates for the formation of a mandatory Youth Corps.

Babcocks’ op-ed, written for the Christian Science Monitor, is titled Obama can instill civic responsibility – through a mandatory Youth Corps, and is ostensibly written as a “responsibilty seed” for Barack Obama, and responsible, freedom loving individuals everywhere should do their utmost to crush this seed before it even gets in the ground.

It appalls me that a “senior professor of ethics” is openly advocating for mandatory service, with the force of the State as the only power behind the command.  How is that ethical?

I don’t think we need a new breed of citizens.  In fact, I think the new breed of citizens wished for by Babcock, Obama and others is already flourishing, unfortunately, and the old breed of Americans; responsible, freedom loving, individualistic, can-do attitude individuals; need to assert themselves and overcome this plague of socialist ideas and individuals infecting the United States of America.

Birth Contrl Equals Stimulus?

While having sex may be stimulating, and having sex with someone knowing whomever you’re having sex with will not get pregnant may be stimulating, throwing hundreds of millions of dollars at family planning with the hope that it will stimulate the economy is like a couple of teenagers having sex and relying on the pull and pray method.

Next to Impossible Task

Considering that Joe Biden cannot think anyway, this will be next to impossible for him to do.

Biden: I have to think about everything I say

Besides, he’s going to have to content himself with possibly being only the third most powerful man in the country, as word is that Rahm Emanuel is arguably the second most powerful man in the country, at least according the linked article from The Global Edition of the New York Times, so his little brain should not be overly taxed.

Tea Party Protest

Mike Vanderboegh links to a Karl Denninger post titled TEA PARTY February 1st? wherein Denninger fleshes out a tea party protest idea which was floated in a discussion forum.

Therefore, on February 1st, which is more than enough time for Barack Obama to be seated in his chair in the West Wing, I am recommending an act of peaceful, lawful and yet unmistakable protest.

That is, to mail President Obama one teabag.  Nothing dangerous, nothing illegal - just one teabag.

Send one to your Congressman and one to each Senator.

Later, when the weather is a bit warmer and fountains are running water (rather than frozen!) this sort of protest can be repeated with LOOSE tea in select cities.

The tea party protest idea is not without merit, if enough fed up Americans could be made cognizant of the idea via various media sources, though I myself typically would not write letters to any congressman, let alone the POTUS, because I am fairly certain that any letter I may write would simply be ignored, as Neal’s letter to Congressman Herger was ignored.  Also, I have a great concern that the individuals who make up the congress of the United States, including the POTUS and his cabinet folks, have little respect for the historic symbolism of the original Boston Tea Party.

Let’s see if the idea gains any traction in more major media sources.

Well, Of Course She Does

According to a Reuters story, Nancy Pelosi, who reminds me of Soviet Comrade Nikolaeva, and may be Helen Thomas’ secret, marginally more attractive sister, is signaling her willingness to reach further into individual Americans’ pockets and then to give those pilfered funds to banks.

Pelosi signals willingness to add to TARP funds

Well, of course she does.  Pelosi also states that “taxpayers” should receive equity as compensation for her stealing Americans’ money and giving it to banks.

“If we are strengthening (the banks), then the American people should get some of the upside of that strengthening,” she said. “Some people call that nationalization. I’m not talking about total ownership.”

No, Pelosi is not talking about “total ownership,” but only because she then would have to join the ranks of the “some people” who recognize that in fact what is going on is nationalization of the banking industry.

And that compensation Pelosi states American people should receive, which is ownership of preferred shares of stock in the banks receiving TARP funds, well, don’t hold your breath waiting for preferred stock certificates to show up in your mailbox.

Pelosi also states the following regarding the possibility of more funds being redistributed to the banks.

Pelosi said any new phase of a bank bailout would be done openly.

I guess that statement simply reflects the fact that the initial TARP distributions are not being done openly, which I noted in a post on November 10, 2008 titled The United States Government is Lying to the American People About the $700 Billion Bailout.

I can’t wait for the day when Pelosi heads back to California and shrivels up like the prune she is.

Obama Brand Heroin

I’m not surprised, at all, that heroin dealers are selling Obama brand heroin.  I wonder if Obama brand heroin’s quickness to market is the result of concern that individuals may be snapping out of the “weird mass self-hypnosis” associated with Obamania and his election as POTUS?

Free Advertising Courtesy of the Infomercial Star

Drudge links to a New York Post piece with the headline President Takes on Rush Limbaugh in New Media War.

For Rush Limbaugh, a mention by Barack Obama - Infomercial Star will undoubtedly translate into increased audience share.

As an aside, Barack Obama has been the POTUS for less than a week, and we already have a new war.  That was fast.

Civil Unrest Search Weirdness

After reading that European leaders are having an emergency meeting to discuss possible impending civil unrest, I clicked over to Google News and typed “civil unrest” into the Google News search engine.

The civil unrest search provided 1,050 links to further delve into, but only one actually piqued my interest.  The link catching my eye was to an OpEdNews.com piece, and I am uncertain as to who/what this organization is, though the motto on their masthead states “Progessive, Tough Liberal News and Opinion,” which tends to make me a bit wary.

Anyway, the one link which piqued my interest at OpEdNews.com is headlined this way:

Mysterious Prison Buses in the Desert

That headline is then followed by this sub-headline.

Prison buses are driving around empty in the Tucson area.  Are Wackenhut and the DHS preparing for civil unrest?

The story itself does not reveal the reason why prison buses are driving around empty in the Tucson area, though speculations are made in the piece.  Any Tucson readers know anything?

Barack Obama - Infomercial Star

Malone Vandam describing Obama in a post discussing how to battle for values that mean something rather than just casting blame.

Barack Obama is no more than a symbolic greeter in the ruinous effort he represents. He is the star of an infomercial that sells a bad product.

Dutchmen for Geert Wilders

As an individual of 100% Dutch descent (my grandparents came over on the boat), and, more importantly, as an individual who fully understands the importance of freedom of speech not only here in the United States, but everywhere, I am appalled at the fact that Dutch authorities are prosecuting Geert Wilders for his criticisms of Islam in his movie Fitna.

Perry de Havilland notes this travesty in a post at Samizdata titled A Dutch disgrace (you can watch the movie Fitna at the link for Perry’s post).

Also at Samizdata, Thaddeus Tremayne encourages individuals to Support Geert Wilders.

As Thaddeus Tremayne states, if you cannot support Geert Wilders monetarily, you can always support him by acknowledging that he is being unjustly prosecuted.  Drop Geert Wilders a supportive note at the link for his name, above.

An Admirable Woman

Not many of the big CEOs, who run/ran what would now actually be failed and bankrupt companies, without the government stepping in and handing them monies taken from actual producing Americans, have the virtue or ethics Maureen Ebel is displaying.  Maureen Ebel lost $7.5 million dollars to Bernie Madoff’s ponzi scheme, but she is not crying for a government handout, nor plying us with her need.  Instead, Maureen Ebel is selling what assets she has, going back to work, and buying 2 for 1 specials at the grocery store.  Read about it for yourself.

Maureen, I salute you, and wish that other individuals living on the largesse of funds taken from producing Americans, by the force of the State, would emulate you.

Maybe Obama Could Be Sworn in a Third Time

Obama Sworn In Again, With Right Words

Inaugural woes have members ticked

On the day after Barack Obama became the 44th president of the United States, members of Congress were flooded with complaints from people who just missed the chance to see history made.
